Poison Ivy

30 04 2008

Well, I was out gardening last weekend–thought great exercise and it needs to be done. Lots of rubbish vines and plants under some of my nice shrubs, so I crawled in to clean them out. My reward, you ask–poison ivy and lots of scratches. On the plus side, the shrubs look really nice now though I have to few yards to go. However, now I am afraid to do it because my arm ITCHES! AARRGGHHHH!!!!

The worst part about the poison ivy is that it is on my bodybugg arm, so I cannot wear my bugg until the rash goes away. Blast!

I’ll Be Back

28 04 2008

Just a quick note to say that I am taking another 4-day break from posting. I am still wearing the bodybugg, but not logging food. I am in the middle of finals and have a paper to write that is tortuous, so have to concentrate on that now.

I know.,.balance is required…just don’t have the balance right now.

Computer ≠ Exercise

17 04 2008

Well, I did fine on eating today (even if I did eat the entire can of chili beans), but my exercise level is low because I sat at the computer all day trying to catch up on things I need to finish before the end of the semester. Don’t tell me I need to walk. I know that. What is nice about the bodybugg is that it CLEARLY shows how important exercise is. When I did just a couple of hours of gardening one day, I burned double the calories that I burned today.

I wonder if the Wii Fit which comes out on May 19 will work for a tech freak like me? Maybe, but I think I will wait and read some reviews. It has been out in England for a few weeks now and one reviewer said it would be entertaining for a couple of weeks and then he would lose interest in it. Since I seem to be doing well with the bodybugg, I wonder if the same would be true of the Wii. I think the price will put me off for awhile though.

Okay, so here is my food for the day. For the purists in the bunch, I had to go back in the delete my dinner (which I had put in the afternoon snack slot) and move it to the right place. Personally, I don’t care where the food goes as long as I log it all. However, I want you purists to be happy and I don’t want comments like “How could you eat that for dinner? or a snack?”

Bad Eating

17 04 2008

Well, I have had two “bad” days in a row. The only bright spots are that I logged the excessiveness on the bodybugg site and that I didn’t go over 3000 calories a day. Still it is pretty bad since to maintain weight at my age I am supposed to eat around 2200-2500 calories a day. AARRGGHH!!!

I’m writing on the blog to help myself get back on track. What I am doing is falling into old habits. I do fine during the day when I am not at home and then I’m tired when I get home, so resort to junk. Not a good habit to let take over again.

How did I get the junk in the house, you ask. I went to the grocery store when I was hungry. Bad, bad idea! All those junk food aisles called my name and I answered. Fritos and ice cream (Ben and Jerry’s) won the contest for my soul. I just cannot believe I sold out so short, bypassing on the Lindt truffles, full-fat cheeses, and a Wendy’s #1 meal with baked potato. Shame on me!

Anyway, I’m back on track today. I will put the food log up no matter what I eat, but I’m hoping I can do a better job today.

New Scale: Down 12

14 04 2008

Well, the doctor got a new scale, so my official weight loss changed. I am moving to my own scale since I don’t see him so often. I am down 12 pounds by my scale. Since I started using the BodyBugg, I have shown a slow, steady weight loss, which is what I want. YEAH! Two pounds away from a “zero” number and five pounds away from my weight BEFORE prednisone. I cannot wait to get rid of that weight because that is when I will really feel like I am actually losing, because then I will be able to tell from my pre-prednisone clothes.

So, things are going well. I am making healthier choices. Adam, I am giving the sugar instead of splenda a try on alternate days, to see if I am less hungry and eat less. Watch the blog, you will be able to see. Today is a splenda day.

Back on Track

12 04 2008

Okay, back in Tennessee now and on track again after the quick visit to Arkansas. Did not eat well in Arkansas, but certainly ate less than I would have pre-bodybugg in that stressful situation with my mother in the hospital and a trip to the emergency room with her after her initial release.

Will begin posting food logs again tomorrow. In the meantime, I am happy to be on track again. I wish I were losing weight faster. In fact, I will not really even consider myself actually losing weight until I get rid of the 20 pounds I gained over Christmas when I was on prednisone so long. However, pounds are still coming off, so that is a good thing.

No Time

8 04 2008

No time to blog. Still in Arkansas with my mother who now has pneumonia. Have been keeping up with the bodybugg (except for one day). Not doing great on food/exercise, but not doing terrible either. Just keeping up with the habit of logging everything in.

Healing the Sick

5 04 2008

Well, I am in Arkansas right now with my parents. My mother just had back surgery, so I came over for a few days to become the keeper of the pills. We don’t want her hooked to pain meds and I swear if we let her, she would pop a pill an hour for the pain. Hopefully, the surgery will work and after the six months the doctor told her it would take her to recover, she will have much less pain.

I am not eating very well here, but am managing to log in and have maintained a calorie deficit (though a low deficit).

No Time

2 04 2008

Okay, no time to say much, but here is my food log for the day. Off to Arkansas on Friday. Fingers crossed that I will find things to eat since I may be hanging out in a hospital visiting my mother after her recent back surgery. She is fine–feisty as ever.

Food Log Again/BodyBugg Downtime

1 04 2008

Okay, okay, here is my log for today. On another note, I love my bodybugg, but I certainly wish they could get their act together on downtime for their website. Their downtime is ridiculous–I have no idea who is maintaining the server, but Apex Fitness needs to send them out for some serious training and/or hire someone who knows what she is doing.

Here is my log:

Too much fat today…no yelling. It was the peanut butter and walnut combo (not to mention cool whip lite) that threw me over the edge. Note the veggies though!
